Watershed Protection
What it is
A voucher that lets you contribute to the protection of a water unit of the reserve: a river, lagoon, waterfall or other water unit.
What it protects / supports
The specific water feature that is protected or supported can be a river, a lagoon, a waterfall, a watershed or another water unit of the reserve that is defined later.
How it works
Under the reference model used by Santuario Chiquito, each unit of this voucher is equivalent to protecting 1 liter of water per day for a year — that is, 365 liters a year. If you choose more than one unit, the equivalence and the value scale proportionally: 2 units equal 730 L/year for COP 250,000, 3 units equal 1,095 L/year for COP 375,000, and so on (liters/year = units × 365; value = units × COP 125,000). The contribution goes to water-related protection actions within the reserve.
Water sources this voucher protects
These are the bodies of water and riparian buffer strips already mapped in the reserve — the same information you see on the interactive map.
Areas and lengths measured directly on the reserve's real GIS surveys — the same data as the interactive map.
What you receive
You receive a confirmation of your contribution with a summary of your voucher. The voucher page will indicate, once it is defined, which specific water feature is being protected or supported.
What happens after you purchase it
Your contribution goes to the conservation work associated with this voucher within the reserve.
