Book a hike

Every guided hike in the reserve always goes with a professional tour guide. When the group grows, a local guide is added. This is not red tape: it is part of how we protect each route's carrying capacity.

Calculate the cost for your group

This calculator gives you an estimate. The final price depends on the route and is confirmed when you book.

This calculator is for end customers / groups of friends and family. Are you a travel agency, or do you want to arrange a corporate outing? Visit Partner Agencies or Corporate groups.

From 8 people on, one additional local ("baquiano") guide is added automatically for every 8 more people — there is no fixed cap on group size.

Every guided hike at Santuario Chiquito always goes with a professional tour guide — it is required, without exception. When the group is larger than 8 people, one additional local ("baquiano") guide is added for every 8 more people — the scheme scales with the group, with no fixed cap.

  • A professional tour guide is required on every guided hike, for any group size.
  • From 8 people on, one additional local ("baquiano") guide is added for every 8 more people, besides the professional tour guide — with no group limit.
  • High-mountain traverses to the snow-capped peaks and night, sunrise or sunset routes have a different guide rate (fixed or with a surcharge) — see the details on each route's page.
  • Self-guided trails (3 routes) do not require a guide.
If you are a travel agency, the preferential B2B rate is on the Partner Agencies page.

It is not only about safety: it is part of the conservation model. Each route has a defined carrying capacity, and the guides are the ones who make sure a group respects it on the ground. On trails that use disused historic dirt roads — the ones suitable for school groups — that capacity is higher because the route already existed and does not mean opening a new path in the páramo.
